that baked-in goodness

First neon/fluorescent test, realized!

The workshop kiln is criminally large for these small pieces - I may donate a percentage of proceeds to Greenpeace...  Watch for jewelry - soon to follow!

new block displays - latest installation

Even smaller block displays—my favorite new thing! (After the jewelry, that is...)

Highly adjustable, configurable components—here in vertical form to fill a tall glass cabinet, the latest jewelry installation at fun gallery and shop, Secession Art and Design in San Francisco's Mission. New show up through May!

knots

New line on the horizon—knots knots knots. (Well-placed knots, that is...) Simultaneously rustic/raw/tough and rich/luxemy ultimate fave. Thoroughly convertible, utterly wearable works. These looks all from one piece. (So excited!)

connected

Beautiful, bubble-inspired, connected/divided plates from Metaphys. In the studio of my dreams, all jewelry components required for each piece live in one of these...

the brite side

Under the heading 'Things You Cannot Tell Just by Looking at Her,' apparently Miuccia Prada has been known to favor fluorescent underwear. I find myself surprised by this. Also thoroughly charmed.

Neon fluorescents have been throwing a party in their own little corner of the fashion scene for a while and Spring 2012 sees the trend blow up, hitting both high and low. Bright (brite!) colors are interpreted in a range of tones, some less electric but no less interesting, appearing now in playful pairings and complex, unlikely mixes.

Whether you go all out with electric-kool-aid-acid color, or gravitate toward a slightly softer, more plastic-fantastic hue, there's a bright color for every taste. Consider a single pop played against warm neutrals this season—it's the freshest take yet.

Jil Sander, Isabel Marant, Acne all styled at Totokaelo.com   /   2012 m&m colors

I'm so excited to be playing with these great colors. Stay tuned for a new line of fluorescent-popped Framed Mesh works: rich, enameled finishes in complex color combos for your palette-mixing pleasure!

The New Now

All the BEST in the new

NOW!

All the best in the new NOW. I mean that honestly, and in the very best sense. But, also—honestly—it's all I can seem to manage these days. I wish I could say it was due to a very calm, serene sense-of-self-as-the-present-moment, but it's more an unenviable look-at-this-important-new-thing-in-front-of-me-I-guess-I'll-drop-everything-and-do-THAT-now... because I am very busy.

Which is great. Truly. I'm still filling the last of the orders I took over the holidays, ecstatic about every single one. But there is so much more involved with building a business, even IF people already want what you have to offer (thank you all so very, very much!) that I find myself wishing I were two or three people... and that at least one of those people had a solid business degree.

It's all very exciting, though. I first started selling my jewelry last summer, fortunate to have been included in ten fantastic art/design venues in the past six months. The latest, and largest, of these was the Renegade Holiday SF fair:

My lovely assistant, Liza, helping to spread the gospel of the mesh.

I met so many great people. We were this busy most of the weekend!

With those shows and my first holiday season under my belt, I gratefully report that I'm very encouraged by the response! And I've learned so much—mostly about how much I have to learn...

For those of you who don't know, I'm a one-woman-band over here. Jewelry, graphics, web design, packaging, marketing, show displays, styling, and photography... I really love doing it all.

Here's to an exciting 2012 with new mesh jewelry designs!

And, of course, whatever YOU have planned...
